Mr. Vincent, a teacher at Bujwanga Primary School, has witnessed a remarkable change since PLIKEN introduced the Menstrual Hygiene Mentorship and donated sanitary kits. He recalls that before this intervention, many girls would miss classes for almost four days each month, often claiming they were sick when in reality they were on their periods and lacked sanitary towels. This absenteeism affected their confidence and academic performance.
Today, things are different. With access to Confidence kits and the knowledge gained through mentorship, the girls now attend school regularly and participate freely in class. MR. Vincent shared: “Before, some girls would miss classes during their menses. Today, that is no longer the case. Our students have gained confidence, and we truly thank PLIKEN for this support.” His testimony shows how PLIKEN’s programs not only empower individual girls but also strengthen entire schools by reducing absenteeism, restoring dignity, and creating equal opportunities for education.
